Is it possible to label histogram axes with Greek letters in italic fonts?
If I do: #font[12]{#eta}, the symbol is still shown in Roman font.

It is not possible. Greek letters are produced with the symbol font which, in PS, is not italic.

The ATLAS style for publication requires that variables are in Italic with Roman subscripts. Therefore we have to fix this for each plot by editing the postscript using psfrag or directly. It would be really good if a patch could be added to allow italic Greek letters to be written into postscript.

Can you send me a file containing the original Greek letters (not italic) and the converted one so I can see what are the needed modifications ?
