Graphics preview and open office 1.1

i just started using open office this morning and would like to insert graphics
with previews. the eps files i’ve been producing with root don’t seem to have
a preview. i wouldn’t mind generating gif’s, but i get the the error message
"Cannot create gif file in batch mode." when i try to do this in root.

right now my only solution is to convert eps files to gif’s. does any else
have a better solution to this problem?

i’m using 3.04.02 on RH7.2.

root needs a X11 graphics window to produce the gif file. If the popping up of the HIGZ window on the computer screen is annoying, you can install the VNC server and redirect the X11 window to that screen like setenv DISPLAY :1. VNC is available here: realvnc.com/
May be there is other ways …
