Estimate sweights in signal window

Dear Experts,
I want to extract sweights from a narrow mass window (signal region) after the fit is performed in a wide range. Here attached the code, I created a truncated dataset to extract sweights from a narrow range. But I am unsure if it’s the correct method. Are the weights properly being propagated into the signal region using a truncated data set.

Also, I tried to add all the weights in the narrow window, to get a sense of yields. Now I see in the narrowed dataset, the signal yield is increased compared to the wider fit range, this creates confusion how the signal yield can increase in a narrow region, (might be the fit is not well in the narrow region?) or is there any easier method to extract the sweights from a narrow signal region?
Please let me know if further information is required.

Hi,

by tuning the size of the region, you can bias your study into showing a stronger signal, yes, and might not be the correct thing to do.
I hope this helps.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Look at this paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/0905.0724 . I was wondering if this method is implemented in Roofit somehow.
