Error Macroname.c not found in path

Hi! Can anyone help me with this error?
I’m trying to run a program called gauss.c but when i type .x gauss.c this error appears:
Error in "<TApplication::ExecuteFile macro gauss.c not found in path .:/home/pettenati97/root-6.26.06-install/macros

I’m launching root in the same folder in which i saved the program gauss.c

I recently installed root on Windows 10 using WSL.

ROOT Version: root-6.26.06
Platform: Not Provided
Compiler: Not Provided

Welcome to the ROOT forum.
If you start ROOT and the command line in the folder your macros is it should work:

$ root gauss.c
3
