X11 error when starting root

Dear MacRooters

Since few weeks I have a new MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo, where I start X11 together with xterm and nedit,
as I did on my old PowerBook.

Interestingly (sorrowly!), sometimes when starting root I get the following X11 error:

Xlib: connection to “:0.0” refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

Xlib: connection to “:0.0” refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

Error in : can’t open display “:0.0”, switching to batch mode…

Root does work but e.g. TBrowser is not available.

This error is irreproducible and usually quitting X11 and starting it again solves the problem. However, it is annoying.
Most often the error seems to appear when I awake the MacBook after having it put to sleep.
Does anybody else have the same experience, and what could be the reason?

Best regards
Christian

Christian,

Are you uptodate with x11 on your MacBook?
Apple has released a few weeks ago a new release of x11 fixing several problems.

I do not see any problem on my MacBook

Rene

Dear Rene

Since I got my MacBook on Dec 18 only I assumed that it contains the newest version of X11, but the version is 1.1.
I see that the update (to version 1.1.3) you mention is from Nov 13, so I will download and install it, thank you.

Best regards
Christian
