Wishlist: a more forgiving history feature

Hi all,
I frequently find myself typing some extremely long expression at the root command line, but then I press the up-arrow instead of the back-arrow while trying to correct some mistake and loose the whole line.
How hard would it be to have a bash-like history that remember the line as you changed it evcen if you move upward or downward?
Is this the right forum to talk about it?
Bye,

Michele

Hi the bash history is working for me even C-r is searching what I have is in
$HOME/.rootrc file the line:
Rint.History: $(HOME)/.root_hist
so you can try to add this and see if it helps

The root history is already working for me. The point is that if I accidentally press the upward arrow while I am typing I loose everything I wrote on that line because root does not remember that until I press enter.
