Windows installation for newbies

A return of experience from the installation on Window from a newbie.

With my student, working on Windows, which I never use, we have installed the latest version (6.22.06), following the instructions on:
Installing ROOT - ROOT

We lost quite some time figuring out we also had to install in Visual Studio additional stuff (I assumed the development tools were included with CMake).

Can you add the following instructions in installation page or in Dependencies - ROOT ?
(In VS, go Tools menu=>Get Tools and Features=>Install the Desktop Development With C++ workload)
[found on msbuild - vcvarsall.bat missing after installing Visual Studio 2019 - Stack Overflow]

Best regards,
Vincent.

Please fill also the fields below. Note that root -b -q will tell you this info, and starting from 6.28/06 upwards, you can call .forum bug from the ROOT prompt to pre-populate a topic.

ROOT Version: root6
Platform: Windows
Compiler: no idea…

Thanks for the feedback, we’ll add the Desktop Development With C++ info (sorry, but I think it was the default some time ago, IIRC)
