What does "did not return OK" mean?

Hi,
My network isn’t totally awful, but it isn’t great. But after almost every request to PROOF I’m seeing the following message:

-> Lite-0: merging output objects ... - (1 workers still sending) -> Lite-0: merging output objects ... \ (1 workers still sending) -> Lite-0: merging output objects ... | (1 workers still sending) -> Mst-0: grand total: sent 139 objects, size: 202179 bytes -> 101020 13:50:57 001 Proofx-E: Conn::CheckResp: server [XXXX.phys.washingto n.edu:1093] did not return OK replying to last request -> 101020 13:50:57 001 Proofx-E: Conn::CheckErrorStatus: EXT: sending message to proofserv

Does that mean the reply timed out? Or does that mean that some other reply (i.e. an error) came back? What should I do when I see this error?

Cheers, Gordon.

Dear Gordon,

This in general means that the underlying XrdClient transaction was not OK. In the specific case,
the proofserv was not able to send something to the next step …

But I am bit confused by the fact that your log shows message tags from “Lite-0” and “Mst-0”/“Proofx-E” !?

Can you explain what is the setup?
When you run in PROOF-Lite there is no Xproofd/Proofx involved …

Hi,
Sorry to take so long to get back to you - end of a workshop.

I build the head version of ROOT (head as of this last Weds I think), and once that is done, I type “xproofd” at the comment line. I then go back to my remote machine (which is running W7, and also has a Weds afternoon build of ROOT on it) and start using PROOF. Those were the messages that came back. :slight_smile:

I can get you access to that instance of PROOF if you like, just contact me via private email.

Cheers, Gordon.

P.S. This is a “test” setup - I’m teaching myself how to use PROOF, so there is no configuration that is done.
