Using ROOT with cygwin

My computer uses the Windows OS, so I need cygwin to simulate a unix environment. However I don’t know how to configure cygwin so it works with ROOT. Any assistance regard this would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Why do you need to emulate a Unix environment? Why not using the Windows native version of ROOT?
