Upgrading to a new root version alongside original?

Hi all,

I am trying to update to a new ROOT version from 6.24.04, which was built from the source.

1.) Is it possible to have the new version installed alongside the old version? Even better if it is possible to install this new version using a pre-compiled binary.

2.) Do I need to rebuild various external libraries that use ROOT after the installation?

Any suggestions on the above two points will be highly valuable.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

My suggestion, if you need more than one version of ROOT on your system, is to organise properly the installation (or build) directories. Those binaries could come from our distributions, too.

As for recompilation of dependent packages, yes, that will be required.

Best,
D
