Turning off Minuit standard out and other fitting questions

I apologize if this is documented somewhere obvious, but I can’t find it.

  1. What I would like to do is turn off the standard output of Minuit when it
    runs.

  2. If I fit a histogram with ‘htemp->Fit(“gaus”)’, how do I get the results (i.e. load the results into variables so I can save them in a ntuple, etc).

    Thanks,
    Charles

Hi,

Have a look at tutorial 16:
root.cern.ch/root/html/examples/multifit.C.html
At the bottom you see how to retrieve from a locally-defined
Gauss the fitted parameters back through GetParameters .
More options exist , have a look at the Reference Guide for TF1:
root.cern.ch/root/htmldoc/TF1.html and its base class
root.cern.ch/root/htmldoc/TFormula.html
Looking at the reference guide for TH1 for “Fit”, you will see the
option you need to specify to keep Minuit Q(uiet) .
