Trouble with shared libraries ROOT v6_18_04d on ubuntu 20.04

Dear Folks

I succesfully installed cvmfs on ubuntu laptop and then attempted to use root
. /cvmfs/larsoft.opensciencegrid.org/products/setup
which root
/cvmfs/larsoft.opensciencegrid.org/products/root/v6_18_04d/Linux64bit+3.10-2.17-e19-prof/bin/root
root
and I get the following error :
cvmfs/larsoft.opensciencegrid.org/products/root/v6_18_04d/Linux64bit+3.10-2.17-e19-prof/bin/root.exe: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I can’t find a libpcre1 that I can isntall

I’m not sure what to do - I suspect I am getting the appropriate version of root that I should be using with LArSoft - any help/tips will be much appreciated

best wishes
Farrukh

It seems to me that your ROOT binary distribution was built for “CentOS 7” or some similar system.
You need to contact the maintainers of LarSoft (maybe they can advise you how to get their software working on Ubuntu 20.04).

If you just need ROOT, take a pre-compiled binary distribution provided by the ROOT Team.
