Too many histograms slowing down the TBrowser. How to minimise this effect?

So I have 5000-7000 histograms (TH1F/TH2F mix) stored in a flat ROOT file. When I open the ROOT file in the TBrowser, it takes a long time to load and is also very slow to use. Is there any recommended method for saving the histograms in a more efficient way so that reading is faster and the TBrowser doesn’t slow to a crawl? Thanks.

You could try to create sub-directories…
