I’m filling this histogram:
TH1F *h_TheRing_XProjection = new TH1F("h_TheRing_XProjection", "X-axis difference...;Difference [cm];Number of particles", 128, -0.352, 0.352);
with some numbers in a loop, and I noticed that some numbers (i.e., -0.011000
, right on the edge of a bin) can appear in adjacent bins. That is, when I fill this histogram with multiple -0.011000
, I would expect it to show up in bin 62 or 63 (depending on how the edge treatment is implemented). But in fact, I see it sometimes showing up in bin 62, sometimes in bin 63. Here is how I fill the histogram:
h_TheRing_XProjection->Fill((photonXCoordinate[gammaIt] - *beamParticleXCoordinate)/1e4, 1.);
Providing a minimal reproducer is somewhat tricky (and I can’t seem to reproduce it by simply filling a histogram with numbers on the edges of the bins), maybe a decent excerpt of a log I made will help. Here is the printing line from the loop:
