The ROOT team is happy to announce the release of the production version v6.08/00 - the first one in the new v6.08 series.

Apart from many bug fixes and performance improvements it offers several new features, for instance:

[li] new tools for parallelism to speed up ROOT or ROOT-based analyses[/li]
[li] I/O of current C++ standard library containers and unique_ptr[/li]
[li] histogramming chains without any code, with the rootdrawtree command[/li]
[li] a ROOT Jupyter kernel[/li]
[li] full support of GCC 5 and up[/li][/ul]
