Root_v5.16.00.source.tar.gz on SUSE, Solaris, Windows Server

Dear Rooters

Can you tell me if the current official source root_v5.16.00.source.tar.gz will compile on the following architectures:

  1. OS: Linux (SUSE 9.2)
    Arch: i686
    Platform: i586-suse-linux
    C++: g++ (GCC) 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)

  2. OS: Linux (SUSE 10.1)
    Arch: x86_64
    Platform: x86_64-suse-linux
    C++: g++ (GCC) 4.1.0 (SUSE Linux)

  3. OS: Solaris 2.9
    Arch: sparc
    Platform: sparc-sun-solaris2.9
    C++: g++ (GCC) 4.1.1

  4. OS: Windows Server 2003 (32-bit)
    Arch: x64
    Platform: mingw32
    C++: g++ (GCC) 3.4.5 (mingw special)

Searching the RootTalk forum I found that it fails on SUSE 9.2, see:
root.cern.ch/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph … 38cb7d9145

Do you know the behavior on the other platforms?

Thank you in advance.
Best regards
Christian

P.S.: You can find the reason of my questions on:
bioconductor.org/checkResults/2.1/bioc-LATEST/

Hi,

No idea on the solaris build (I believe we use solaris 9 5.9?), the linux builds should work.

I have a prototype for a MingW build based on a patch by Ludovic Gaudichet, but it’s not fully functional yet, and I don’t have enough time to get it working. So if you want to help us out let me know.

Cheers, Axel.

Dear Axel

Thank you for this information.
Maybe, someone else has running ROOT on Solaris 2.9 sparc and could comment?

Best regards
Christian

P.S.: Sadly, I am too busy with my own package.

Most users on Solaris use teh native SUN CC compiler.
However, the gcc versions should work too.

Rene

Dear Rene

Thank you, I hope so, too.
Once the Bioconductor people will test my package on their machines I will know for sure.

Best regards
Christian
