Root, running options

Hello,
I am running a 32bit Windows 7 version, on a Dual Core Celeron @2.1GHz, 2GB RAM laptop.
I would like to know what are the various ways that I could run Root on this machine.
I know that one option is to create a linux partition on my machine, however I would still like to ask what linux flavor is the recommended for running Root and what other settings should I choose.
What other options do I have except for partitioning?
Thank you,
askalot.

ROOT 5 should work. See https://root.cern.ch/supported-platforms. You can download the binaries from the latest release. https://root.cern.ch/content/release-53434
