ROOT interactive shell in lieu of a calculator

In order to install the root packages on my Fedora21 Linux, I want to use the Apper software managements repositories. However, I am not sure if I need to install every single one of them. I would like to know why I cannot execute “> root” command line to use root as a calculator in my Linux. Should I install every single one of the packages in the repository? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Should I install every single one of the packages in the repository?
No. For ROOT itself you should only need the core package.

Cheers,
Philippe.

It seems Apper is not able to update/install those core packages. I am receiving error message in my Fedora21 Linux saying “A problem that we were not expecting has occurred. Please report this bug with the error description.” And I had no choice but to report it. I am not that good in Linux.

Thanks though,
