hello all,
i’m struggling with the root install from source (root_v5.08.00b.source.tar) on a box running FC5, gcc 4.1.1, with a dual dual AMD.
i’ve included the relevant portion of the make output below; there are no errors above this, though there are a few warnings about breaking strict-aliasing rules:

This problem was solved several weeks ago.
Install 5.12 or 5.13
