Root failing to start on windows 8

I just downloaded root on a windows 8 computer and when i try to run the program the following error window appears," The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect". any ideas?

Hi,

This is most probably because some runtime libraries are missing on your system (e.g. the visual C++ redistributables). Which version (exact name of the file) did you download?

the exact name of the file is root_v5.34.07.win32.vc90.debug

Try a release version instead of debug version.

Try the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

i tried downloading c++ but that didn’t help but the thing that did work was downloading the release version instead of debug version.
