Root crashes vcxsrv under Windows 10 with ubuntu subsystem

I have a user who’s running root under the Windows 10 “ubuntu subsystem”, using the latest version of VCXSRV as his X server. The setup works fine for other graphical programs (e.g., gnuplot), but he finds that root crashes VCXSRV after the first plot. He can plot, say, a sine function, successfully, but the X server crashes immediately afterward. We’re trying to figure out what root might be doing that other X applications aren’t.

Root was installed using “apt-get install root-system-bin”, but this doesn’t seem to be relevant. If he uses ssh to connect to a remote Linux computer and runs root from there, the same thing happens.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bryan

Hi,

We have no experience with Windows 10 and its ubuntu subsystem (which is experimental AFAIK), and we are investing our time on porting ROOT on Windows (native), so sorry, but there is not much I can do to help you there…

Cheers, Bertrand.
