I am in the market for a new server machine and can’t decide whether to jump into AMD or Intel. Anyone willing to post their ROOTMark scores or comments on ROOTing with the latest processors?
To get things going, here is a stressHepix score for my old machine
(ROOT 5.19/02 compiled with gcc 3.4.4 on kernel 2.6.20)
4-processor Opteron 852 (2.6 GHz) 8GB RAM: ROOTMARKS =1581.1
