How/where can I learn to install ROOT 5.16.00 from sources under windows with Visual C++ 8.0 and without Cygwin?

Hi all,
After spending some more time searching root and google I found it is impossible to build root without Cygwin under WinXP.
If it becomes possible or already is, I’d thank you to post a reply or a link on installation instructions.

Hi Rui,

For the time being, to build ROOT from source on Windows, you need cygwin (or an equivalent tool, as, i.e. a subset of MSYS)
