PYTHIA with ROOT error PYTHIA8DATA no path contain


ROOT Version: 6.14/04
Platform: MacOS 10.14
Compiler: Not Provided


I want to use PYTHIA with ROOT but when I used root pythia8.C, I got this message

Error in <pythia8.C>: Environment variable PYTHIA8DATA must contain path to $PYTHIA8/xmldoc directory !

I think already set environment I had put those line in ~/.bash_profile

export PYTHIA6=/usr/local/pythia6
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$PYTHIA6:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PYTHIA8=/usr/local/pythia8235
export PYTHIA8DATA=$PYTHIA8/xmldoc
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$PYTHIA8/lib

I don’t know why it still says that variable PYTHIA8DATA don’t have a path.

And what is the content of your $PYTHIA8/xmldoc?

What should it be in $PYTHIA8/xmldoc because I can’t find the xmldoc file in PYTHIA8 location?

It can find the xmldoc now but when I run root pythia8.C It still stuck.

Just to make sure … do you try to use the ${ROOTSYS}/tutorials/pythia/pythia8.C macro which comes with your ROOT version?

I have run pythia8.C from ${ROOTSYS}/tutorials/pythia as you say and I still get this message. What is it mean?
