PyROOT on Windows 10

Dear ROOT developers,

I’m in the process of setting up ROOT/pyROOT for students on their Windows laptops. We managed to get the C++ part to work reasonably well, but I can’t seem to find the correct version of Python to install. I tried with the latest 32-bit version of python 2.7 from the python website, and it crashes immediately on “import ROOT”. Which version of python was ROOT built with in the official builds, so we can install the same one?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Kind regards,

Manuel

Hi Manuel,

There is currently no version of PyROOT working on Windows, but we are actively working on it.

Thanks, that explains it, then. Okay, I’ll look into a VM based solution for my Windows-based students…

Cheers,

Manuel
