PyRoot demo hangs on Mac

I’ve just started to try to use PyROOT on a mac, and when I run demo.py, the menu comes up, but immediately freezes with the spinning wheel of death.

Details:

  • Root 6.22/08
  • Tried with Pyton 3.9.6 (direct install) and 3.9.5 (homebrew install)
  • OS Mohave 10.14.6

Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you try with a newer version of ROOT, I’d say 6.24/02?
