I try to run ROOT with ubuntu of microsoft store, but i have this problem
I had this issue aswell. For some reason the solution was to just go to close the wsl session, start a new one and the home directory and type
source ~/path/to/.sh/file
Let me know if that works, if not I have something else in mind.

I think this would happen if you built ROOT under windows and then tried to use it from WSL.
No, I had this after cloning root and building it all in WSL. The solution above is what worked or me (for some reason). @nick did it work for you?
