I quite like the plot over line feature in paraview. You can extra data from a specifc location in geometry. For example the effective spectrum of a field at that location. It would be quite nice if the resulting spectrum could be fit with ROOT functions. Does the main ROOT framework offer this capability. The closest thing I have seen is the GDML viewer with track overlays in jsroot but I am not sure you can extra data from it in this way.
