Only able to use FitPanel once

Hi,

I am a beginning ROOT user using ROOT in LxPlus.

I am encountering the glitch that when I open a HIST file in TBrowser and use the FitPanel to make a fit, this converges successfully one time. If, in the same ROOT session, I try to use the FitPanel again, the fit fails. So after making each fit I have to close ROOT and re-open it, which takes a while.

Can you suggest any ideas for why this is happening?

When I use ROOT that I have downloaded in my home directory, I encounter the same issue but am sometimes able to use the FitPanel two or three times in the same ROOT session.

I have downloaded ROOT 5.34 on my computer.

In LxPlus the version of ROOT that loads is ROOT 6.

On LxPlus the ROOT version 6.02/12 loads and on my computer the version 5.34/34 loads.

I think you need to attach your “.root” file here (and write which histogram you are trying to fit and with what function).
