MacOS 10.5.8 root installation problem

Dear Root Forum/Support:

I am having root installation problems and hope that someone here will have some insights. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. – Arun

  1. Trying to build root using source: root_v5.28.00c.source.tar.gz

  2. Followed the instructions at: root.cern.ch/drupal/content/inst … oot-source
    using gcc: i686-apple-darwin9-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5493) version and
    gfortran: GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.3.0 20070316 (experimental) version

  3. The attached file has the error messages…final part is copied here

Hi,

xrootd is not supported anymore on OSX 10.5. To install on 10.5 please do:

./configure --disable-xrootd
make
