Is this a legitimate release of ROOT?

I am trying to make root a python dependency and when doing

pip install root

I see that this:

is getting installed. I see no README, are we supposed to use that? Is it supported or encouraged?

It’s in “alpha” state. In one or two weeks it will be officially released with ROOT 6.38 (for Linux).

Dear @curious_goose ,

Thanks for trying that out! I support @ferhue ‘s statement. We will release 6.38.00 for the first time on PyPI, and it will still be in alpha: please use it, and give us feedback! But I wouldn’t suggest using it for production just yet

Cheers,
