Installing root_v6.36.06.macos-26.1-arm64-clang170.pkg?

Hi there,

I downloaded root_v6.36.06.macos-26.1-arm64-clang170.pkg on macOS 26.1 with Xcode 26.1.1. But the problem is that I just cannot install due to Apple protection “Apple could not verify “root_v6.36.06.macos-26.1-arm64-clang170.pkg” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.” I have found how to ‘go around’ this protection in System Settings. But I was wondering if there is a way for you to build the .pkg files for ROOT which ‘passes’ the Apple security criteria, so one can avoid this?

Thanks for the question.
For this exact reason, a procedure to sign the pkg binaries for macOS is in commissioning. We chose not to sign binaries for the latest stable in this commissioning phase, however we could provide them as a test: would you be willing to test them?

In the meantime, if this is blocking you, you can always resort to brew (brew install root), to install the latest root in userland.
