Install Root on a chromebook?

Hello,

A friend of mine wants to install root on his chromebook. Does anyone know if this is possible? I know Chromebooks after 2019 support using Linux, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to get root through this. I’m not very familiar with chromeOS
