Install on Mac os x

Hi All,

I have been using ubuntu for the past two years of my ROOT usage. Now I have just gotten a MacBook Pro (which I am clueless about) and I am trying to install ROOT from source. I have downloaded fink and I have installed the x11 libraries. When I try to do "./configure" it gives me the error "No such file or directory". I am assuming this means I am missing a library. I think it is the XPM library but I have been trying to figure out how to get it and I can't find it anywhere! Any help for installing this library and ROOT would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Best,
Matt

EDIT: Nevermind, I have it figured out. Mods please delete.

Just install Apple’s X11 from the install CD that came with your Mac and install the dev tools xcode etc, also on your install CD. Nothing is needed from Fink for a default install.

Cheers, Fons.

how does the ./configure command work?

Hi,

What do you mean? Does the information at root.cern.ch/drupal/content/inst … oot-source answer your question?

Cheers,
Philippe.

my problem was from not using the source code, in case anyone encounters this in the future.
