Incorrect line numbers reported on error

Hi

I’m trying to debug one of my scripts, upon failing the error message is displayed along with a line number, however the line number reported has nothing to do with the reported error.

For example I am currently being told that the error is being caused by a line of code that is in the middle of a block of commented out code, the actual line where the failure is is nowhere near the reported line.

What would cause ROOT to incorrectly report the line number? And more importantly how can I get the correct line number.

I’m running ROOT 5.10.00 on 64bit Fedora Code 4.

Cheers

Adam

Hi,

please send a script which demonstrates the problem.

Axel.

I can’t reproduce the error in a short script suitable for posting, only in my production script which is around 800 lines long and requires several extra libraries being installed.

What things could effect the reported line number?

Cheers

Adam

Hi,

hard to say. “Context” C preprocessor statements, scope blocks, loops, brackets of any kind not closed - everything that can extend over multiple lines could theoretically trigger a hypothetical line count bug, I’m afraid.

Cheers, Axel.
