How to install and build root

Hello, I have been trying to install root many different ways (cmake, make…) but all failed. Today I went to my university’s tech support and they told me to use

It finally worked, but I don’t know what to do next. Did that command install root? How do I build it?

Yes, it did install ROOT (not the newest version, but a stable one). From the command line, just write now “root -l” and you should be able to run ROOT.
