GdK-WARNING at Run-time

Hi,

First, many thanks for any help people may be able to give me – I’ve been using ROOT for about a year now and it’s a really useful tool and I’m very appreciative of the support and effort people have given to it.

I’m trying to port a fairly large application to Windows, basically everything works fine, but I get few error /warning messages at runtime when I open up a file manager dialogue box, to save files, read files etc. I’m (way) past my level of knowledge in trying to solve this, so I was wondering if anyone had any clues as to what these warnings are and how to ameliorate them.

The error messages sent to the terminal are:

Also, sometimes I see

I really haven’t much clue about this – they don’t seem to crash the programme. I then checked the executable in “Dependency Walker”. This programme found a few errors in loading libraries, the abridged output is pasted below…. I really don’t know where to go from here – any help would be greatly appreciated, please let me know what furtehr information is required - I guess these errors are specific to the set-up of my Windows?

Which version of ROOT are you using?
Could you provide a minimal piece of code reproducing the issue?

I’ve attached an archive with files that can reproduce the issue on my machine, they are split into subfolders, hopefully it shouldn’t be too difficult to compile, ( in MSVC++ there are plenty of warnings to do with sprintf being unsafe and signed insigned ints in for loops, etc…) I’ve also included the dict .cpp and .h files and a .bat file that i use to generate the dictionary.

With a “release” target I compile with #defines _OFFLINE_MODE, _STANDALONE_VERBOSE and _WINDOWS_MACHINE and flags /fopenmp

EDIT: And some files are missing as well:

Hi Bertrand,

I’m so sorry - I forgot to include the folder with necessary GUI classes (!)

I’ve also included the the makefile we use on the Linux cluster. I’ve not actually been using Visual Studio as the IDE, but Code::Blocks. Could this be the issue? It hasn’t caused problems before, but maybe this time… I’ll try finding a version of Visual Stuido and trying myself.

I managed to build in Visual Studio and the problem doesn’t appear to be there, no warning messages. The only change i had to make was including “stdafx.h”

I guess this is solved for me now - I just need to use the recommended software, If you’re interested the solution is here:

Well, stdafx.h has nothing to do with the issue. This is probably a compilation flag or a Code::Blocks configuration which is different… Anyway, glad to see you solved the problem.
