Gaussian fitting

Dear all

If I have a peak set on high background, and wanted to fit this peak using Gaussian fitting in root,
after fitting I can got the three parameters (Constant, Mean and Sigma)

if I used the area under the peak using
A= ConstantSigmasqrt(towpi) , will this still counting the background or not???
I mean should I still have to estimate the background and subtract it???

If you fit the magenta peak and calculate the area under it, it definitely includes the background. You have to estimate the background and subtract it.
