i have successfully created and avalanche process in triple GEM detector . i want to plot between voltage and effective gain but I am being puzzled by Voltage means how i decide voltage because there are 3 (GEM_V1, GEM_V3, GEM_V3). please give any suggestions.
Hi,
this isn’t really a question about Garfield++, and I’m not an expert on optimising the voltage settings in a GEM (you might want to consult the literature on this subject) but I think you could start by plotting the effective gain as a function of the sum of the voltage differences applied to the GEMs (ΔVGEM1 + ΔVGEM2 + ΔVGEM3). You might also want to vary the values of the drift field, transfer field, and induction field to tune your configuration depending on what constraints you have in your application and what parameters you want to optimise (gain, ion back flow ratio, …).
