Error on Root Installation

___I’m trying to install Root following the instructions on README files but after “make -j8” command the process stops at 77% and it showing me 2 errors. The last lines on terminal is this:
make[2]: *** [core/rootcling_stage1/CMakeFiles/rootcling_stage1.dir/build.make:225: core/rootcling_stage1/src/rootcling_stage1] Error 1
make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:20559: core/rootcling_stage1/CMakeFiles/rootcling_stage1.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [Makefile:152: all] Error 2
How i can fix this?

Hi Nikos,

Welcome to the ROOT forum!

For Ubuntu 20.04, we have pre-built binary tarballs:

https://root.cern/download/root_v6.22.02.Linux-ubuntu20-x86_64-gcc9.3.tar.gz

Would that do the trick for you?

Cheers,
Jakob

I have downloaded that already, and the source file. The instructions that i followed was on the source file, should i follow the instructions on the binary files and then try the install from the source?? I’m completely new on this things.

I think the easiest is to follow the instructions here: https://root.cern/install/#download-a-pre-compiled-binary-distribution
