Error installing root on Linux device

I have downloaded the version for Ubuntu 18 but can’t seem to install it. After extracting the files, following commands were followed. The file was extracted in Documents. currently working in Documents directory.
mkdir build
cd build
cmake /home//Documents/root
Error: The source directory “/home//Documents/root” does not appear to contain CMakeLists.txt.

The ROOT team provides ready-to-use binary distributions for some systems, including various Ubuntu versions, which you just need to download and unpack (see “Using binaries” therein).
