According to this post and this post, python / PyROOT support has been added to the ROOT docker image. After exporting PYTHONPATH, ROOT import works only with python 2.
Is it possible to enable Python 3 as well?
ok, I found the problem. I was using the wrong docker container rootproject/root-ubuntu16. Using rootproject/root everything works perfectly with Python3.
