Thanks for reaching out to the forum! I believe yours is a general question rather than being specific to ROOT. A quick google search gives various results which might be a good starting point for your problem. This article from the google results sounds promising. Of course if you have any code snippet with a specific question regarding usage of ROOT, do send it here and we can take a look at it together.
