Importing ROOT in a python console

I have recently installed ROOT 6.12 in Ubuntu. I have Python 2.7. When I try to import ROOT I got that there isn’t module ROOT.

If I wrote root on console , interactive root works perfectly.

Searching solutions i heard things about libPyROOT.so and root.py.

What should i do? Im a bit confused.

PD: I have built ROOT in Downloads folder. I dont know if this can be the problem.

PD2: I found that i have the same problem that here:

ROOT 6.06.02 and pyroot

The installation of ROOT 6.06.02 on Ubuntu 15.10 and 16.04 was successful and I tested the installation with a few example from the user guide. I also can run jupyther --notebooks (starts with some warnings though). However, there seems to be an issue with python. I can use python from within ROOT as per example (and after correction typo in documentation from Exec(“print1+1”); to Exec("print(1+1)*): root[] gSystem->Load( "libPyROOT" ); root[] TPython::Exec("print1+1"); 2 But trying to import…

Hi,

it looks like an issue with your environment. Did you source the YOUR_ROOT_INSTALLATION_DIR/bin/thisroot.sh? What’s inside your PYTHONPATH?
