Sorry for my incompetence about ROOT and Linux. I would like to know about the possibility of installing ROOT 6.22/02 (the last release) on a Ubuntu 20.04.1 virtual machine on VirtualBox. ROOT will run in the right way if I do this following the instructions on the web under " Download a pre-compiled binary distribution" (https://root.cern/install/) or I will need a “real” version of Linux/other versions of Ubuntu/other instructions? I have a Windows 10 PC and I tried a direct installation of ROOT on Windows but I had a lot of problems and I had to uninstall it. Thanks for your attention and your willingness

Hi @EVTO,
there should be no problem running ROOT in a virtual machine (or a Docker container).

You can also install ROOT in the Windows Subsystem for Linux, see e.g. the discussion here.

Cheers,
Enrico
