Kernal automatically dies in root 6.08 notebook

Hi All,

I just got a fresh install of root 6.08 in my macbook air with OSX 10.12.05 and im having problems with running a notebook using a RootC++ kernel. It keeps dying and any amount of restart doesnt seem to help the issue.
I got a python2 notebook and did the import ROOT and that seemed to work for a while until i tried to change it to C++ and it complained with this command ROOT.toCpp()

Im following the instructions given here https://root.cern.ch/notebooks/HowTos/HowTo_ROOT-Notebooks.html. Any help would be much appreciated since we are trying to prepare tutorials on root 6 including macros and notebooks for summer undergrads so itll mostly be using the C++ format.
